Over 100 dwarfs for Brain Flounders to cast his eye over at Darlington for our 2017 Intermediate Show. Brian had been really looking forward to judging the show since the ballot results almost a year ago. As always, we were made most welcome, hospitality second to none.

Lots of famous faces of the dwarf world were there, but there were a lot missing. I know National shows can’t all be “home” shows on your doorstep, but it would great to see more of our 300 members making the journey to the show.

A special mention to two young ladies who travelled all the way from Hereford to show a cracking team of BEWs, really great to see you Georgina, and to Joe and Benjamin, and equally impressive journey, who also attended the Northern show the day after at Bury and Radcliffe, many thanks for your support.

The REW’s were the first class, not a bad dwarf on the table, Brian went through them in his usual calm manner, BEW’s next, and again a very strong line up from both north and south, which continued throughout the day. The southerners coming out on top in the BEWs today. Simon took those superb photos of people and dwarfs that he is famous for and that make the National Dwarf so popular throughout the world, I still can’t believe how many people click on the website after a stock show.

Great summer weather meant that we could sit outside and enjoy lunch whilst chatting about judging, genetics, seminars and our summer BBQ, June 24th same venue as last year. It is always great to get the views of our exhibitors who do not always get to our AGM, lots of food for thought to take forward into future events. My receipt book was also in full swing, selling from our new range or merchandise, show towels, grooming bags and T shirts, all proving popular. It was great to see so many people in the National Dwarf hoodies when we arrived. Full details are on our website, order your today, just let us know the size and you too could be part of the NNDRC team!

Many congratulations to Mandy and Terry Palmer, Remlap Stud, their stunning adult black otter going BIS, a dwarf I have put up many times, and in 3rd their agouti hot on his heels, a body to die for (just like Terry!).  They also repeated their success in the North East and Darlington shows with the Agouti taking top spot. Best under 5 months in the stock show, Deb and Gary Hodson with a siamese sable, splitting the two adults finishing runner up BIS. We had a really great day in the North East, many thanks for looking after us so well, and a special thanks to Anne Stephenson for taking the entries and the very kind gesture of paying for our advert.

See you all on June 24th at our summer BBQ, box show (judge Gerry Harrington) and seminar, we have already had requests for topics to be discussed, it promises to be an action packed day. Beaver Hall Equestrian Centre, Bradnop, Nr Leek, Staffordshire. ST13 7EZ, the fun starts at 11am.
